What Our Members Say
We've heard over and over again how much our members value membership in The Sleeter Group network. Here are just a few quotes from current members:
"I just wanted to take a moment to thank you guys for being such a quality organization! I have really appreciated and enjoyed all of the interactions that I have experienced with you guys in the last few months. You guys are first class in my book and I look forward to a long association with the Sleeter Group.YOU ROCK!!"
Deb Prolo, Santa Rosa, CA
"I really appreciate The Sleeter Group
keeping me billable by helping me solve QuickBooks problems for my clients. I'm glad to be a part of the network."

"I have been a member of The Sleeter Group for over 8 years. The knowledge I have gained from Doug Sleeter and Joe Woodard has made me and my company what they are today. The quality of teaching from The Sleeter Group is above exceptional. I have missed one conference since I joined and never want to miss another one! I made many friendships with other attendees and learned quite a lot from each and every one of them. I do not believe anyone can go wrong by becoming part of The Sleeter Group."
Jan Tartoni, Virginia Beach, VA
"Great software from Intuit has been a given since inception. But I feel that my career success and business growth is as much due to you for having pioneered the development of training, certification, and a QuickBooks consultant community. The Sleeter Group was there at the beginning of what we now take for granted as consultants."
Bryce Forney, CPA, Pleasant Hill, CA
"I've been a Sleeter Group member since 2000 and I can't imagine practicing in this field without them. They produce absolutely the best reference material available for QuickBooks. I've used it for years for teaching QuickBooks classes. The Consultants Reference is a must have for real well thought out solutions to problems. My experience with their personnel has always been excellent. The business owners are involved, available. Participation in their Yahoo email group is worth the price of admission in my opinion. There is a nearly constant discussion of QuickBooks issues by people in the field with years of experience. Help is an email away. My relationship with Sleeter is been nothing short of awesome. I wish I got the same value from other professional organizations I belong to that I get from The Sleeter Group."
Jim Beddow, CPA, Atlanta, GA
"I have found The Sleeter Group to be an invaluable resource for me and our business. They have a number of tools that use regularly.
The Yahoo Email Group is very active and has been a fantastic resource to share best practices, run questions by the virtual membership, and gain knowledge on numerous topics at the expert level.
The monthly webinar drills into relevant subject matter - data analysis, 3rd party tools that can provide another dimension to your practice and skills. Information that we normally wouldn't come across on our own.
We have used their Consultants Reference Guide to develop our own methodology for setups, cleanups, bookkeeping practices, et al.
You should check out their annual conference. You don't have to be a member to attend but you likely will be one afterwards.
I obtained the Advanced QB Certification from QuickBooks, am certified in QB POS, etc. These pale in comparison with what we have gained from being a Sleeter Group member and a Certified Sleeter Group Consultant."
David Glantz, Fairfield, CA
"I went to the Sleeter Group conference this last year and was thoroughly impressed with the sessions. There truly is a wide variety of classes with depth and breadth focusing mostly on QuickBooks and the third party applications that integrate with QuickBooks. Many vendors are also represented including Peachtree and Microsoft Office Accounting. Many other third party application providers are present so you’re able to get to know the integrated solutions one on one with the vendors. The other major benefit to the group is a chat group which you can post questions about issues and have experts around the country respond to your inquiry. There are many that are very active on the chat and the discussions are very helpful to gaining insight into what is working and not working for other consultants/accountants. The Sleeter Group also offer webinars, offer learning materials, and has a wealth of members only materials to help grow your accounting software company. If you’re serious about expanding your services in the accounting software consulting arena, the Sleeter Group will be a valuable resource."

"I am a QuickBooks Advanced Certified ProAdvisor. In addition, I have been a Sleeter Group Network member since October 2006. In the short time since joining the Sleeter Group, I have changed the direction of my business, expanded my services & billings, and increased revenues. All as a direct result of joining this group. My membership has also helped me stand apart from others in my field. Not because of any Sleeter lapel pin, but because of the wealth of knowledge I have acquired as a result of belonging to this group.
The caliber of fellow members as well as Doug Sleeter's expertise not only in all things QuickBooks, but in the technology industry as a whole has been very valuable to the growth of my company. Doug and others in the Sleeter network are highly respected in the business technology industry and are often consulted by Intuit and other companies for their input and expertise.
Fellow members benefit via monthly webinars hosted by Doug, our consultants forum and other forms of communication. In addition, Doug has negotiated unique partnerships with other vendors that benefit both vendors and Sleeter consultants. You can read more about it on the Sleeter website. (Fishbowl VAR for example). Monthly Webinars focus in-depth on advanced QuickBooks and technology issues that would take countless hours for a consultant to research on their own. The consultants forum is very active and has enabled me to address some quite complicated consulting issues. In my opinion, those active in this network are the "best of the best" at what they do.
I have never called the Sleeter offices to use them as a help desk because the forum hasn't made it necessary. Doug spends countless hours researching and analyzing technologies that he, in turn, reports to us about. I find this much more valuable than joining Sleeter solely for support. Between the consultants forum, and our Proadvisor onshore tech support, my support needs have been met. Sleeter's focus on acquiring cutting edge technologies, negotiating special partnerships between vendors and Sleeter Group members, and educating members on the most advanced topics in not just QuickBooks, but Business Software technology as a whole, is where the value lies.
I didn't join the Sleeter Group until after attending their 2006 conference in Las Vegas. Prior to attending, I did not understand the value in investing $495.00 to join. Up to that point, I was always satisfied with the services and support I received as an Intuit ProAdvisor. However, the conference was top notch with the highest quality speakers, instructors, workshops and exhibitors. It was at the conference that I saw the value in becoming a Sleeter Group Member.
I have no regrets. I not only will remain a member until I am no longer in this business, but I will never miss their annual conference. Involvement with the Sleeter Group has been worth every penny, and has truly changed the direction of my consulting firm for the better. Intuit is great and I am very loyal to them. However, Sleeter supplements Intuit's services by enabling consultants to become highly educated in not only QuickBooks, but in business process management technology as a whole, which gives us a big advantage over other consultants in our area.
I am not a CPA, and tax returns are not part of my revenue stream. I do have a solid knowledge of bookkeeping and have a degree in accounting, so I have no problem offering bookkeeping and payroll services. However, because of my Sleeter Group involvement, I now consider myself a Business Software Consultant, helping companies streamline and implement complete business process management solutions. This is a huge "pain area" for businesses, and I am filling a need that is not addressed by most QuickBooks consultants in my area. My bookkeeping, payroll and data file setups services have become secondary in my firm. Enterprise and 3rd party implementations."

"I have been a member of the
Sleeter Group Network for several years and I have found the membership to be
an invaluable resource for QuickBooks consulting and bookkeeping businesses.
The Yahoo! group is great! It’s a 24/7 resource of the brains
of similarly interested professionals across the country for usual and unusual
questions. It’s an on-going education in the use of QuickBooks and related
software. The FTP access included with a membership is invaluable! Ever since I
’ve began working with a client of 8 years, we have exchanged backup files,
using floppies. It now takes seven floppies to back up his files and about
15 minutes to backup and restore. We ran into bad floppies periodically, we
tried CD backups, but he his CD burning program didn’t like my computer. This
client now uses the Sleeter Group FTP. It takes less than five minutes to back
up and restore a file. A savings of about 45 minutes a month! The client is
saving money and we’re both saving time and aggravation! I set up a Sleeter account
for another client, and instead of using floppies, zips, or CDs, I just upload a current
version of their file at the end of each week. They receive the file and have time
to look at the new work before I get to their office which is 10 minutes away.”
Jan Jenson, Novato, CA
"Today I was at a
client's office and I was the fifth CPA with in 6 months to try to
help with his QuickBooks problems. After we resolved the problem,
he said "finally! Why couldn't any of the other CPA's fix this?"
My first thought was -they aren't members of the Sleeter Group. The
Sleeter Group helps me think outside the box to come up with client-friendly
solutions, but also keep the financial statements in line. I have
come to realize that I'm better than the majority of QuickBooks consultants
because of the training and reference materials I receive from the
Sleeter Group. I have also met a lot of great QuickBooks consultants at the Sleeter Group conferences that I feel comfortable calling with questions. The Yahoo Group has been very helpful for getting questions answered.
I think that being a Sleeter Group consultant has been highly beneficial to my growth as a QuickBooks consultant and I couldn't imagine life in the QuickBooks world with out them. Keep up the great work I don't know how I'd survive
with out your organization."

"The Sleeter Group has always kept
one step ahead of me. I have used their Email the Experts program
many, many times. I also subscribe to their Yahoo! group - that tackles
issues from accountants all over the US with the idea that our advance
knowledge should be shared to further the expertise of all Pro Advisors. Their past Tech Seminars and the current yahoo group have kept me a step ahead in the Quickbooks world. They offered certification long before Intuit, and it's my personal belief that the tests at Intuit stepped up a couple of notches after reviewing the Sleeter materials 5 years ago. Over the years, I have developed alliances with other Sleeter members, and use those resources to work in tandem with a client for the benefit of all. It's a professional organization who's affliation with me has only enhanced and benefited my practice. It is a family-run organization based in the Pacific Time Zone, and not an Intuit-sized company, but I have never not had a response, and sometimes, when I'm doing research after hours, when I shoot off an email, I get an instant phone call - and it doesn't get better than that. There are two levels of membership and I recommend the one that comes with the "Ask the Experts" response for folks that need additional support in the first few years of their careers. Becoming certified by Sleeter gets your name and profile on their site and I have picked up enough business from that resource to more than pay for the membership."

Nice people. Very smart. Extremely dedicated. Wide network of consultants. The Sleeter Group is one of the country's leading experts on QuickBooks and Accounting Solutions for small businesses. A good network to be part of if you're a QuickBooks/accounting consultant. You can become a formal member or just get their newsletter, attend a seminar or two, etc.
