A Message from Doug Sleeter

Doug SleeterI am pleased to announce that our first three QuickBooks Consultant University seminars this month have been very well received by our seminar attendees. The new features of 2006 have sure given us a lot to talk about! I have really enjoyed meeting our QuickBooks seminar clients and seeing so many of our Sleeter Group Consultant Network members at the seminars.

I am looking forward to seeing more of you at our last three seminars (Atlanta, San Francisco and Los Angeles) over the next few weeks. We are also offering a final “QuickBooks University” Seminar in Las Vegas in November – that seminar will cover the next version of QuickBooks.

We have just released our 2006 QuickBooks Fundamentals book (see details below). We are currently completing our Intermediate QuickBooks workbook and will have news on that release next month.

Feature Article: Trading Services Between Customers and Vendors

If you buy services or products from your customers, you might want to “trade” instead of paying each other. If you don’t exchange money, but instead exchange credits against what each other owes, you’ll need to record a few special transactions in QuickBooks to ensure that all your reports are accurate.

For example, if you sell the customer taxable Items, or if you buy inventory Items in the trade, you want to make sure your accounting is accurate even though no cash changes hands.

Managing Inventory within QuickBooks Point-of-Sale

The Sleeter Group's QuickBooks Resource Products Update

Sleeter Group SeminarsSleeter Group’s QuickBooks Fundamentals Workbook for 2006 is now available!

The format of the 2006 version is similar to our 2005 version but we have added enhancements to make learning the fundamentals of QuickBooks 2006 easy and fun.

We have improved the book to make teaching easier as well. For example, in our Introduction to QuickBooks chapter we have expanded the discussion of Accounts, Registers, and Lists to provide instructors the opportunity to introduce these concepts earlier.

We have also revised sections in the Setup and Customizing chapters to reflect the new process that QuickBooks 2006 uses to set up a company file and edit preferences.

Previous versions of the book have included End-of-Chapter questions; the new version now includes the answers to these questions for students to test their knowledge.
