If Before joining us, Sheetal worked as a Marketing Coordinator for Milestone Internet Marketing, where she coordinated trade shows and assisted with customer service. Prior to this, she worked at Wells Fargo as a Personal Banker, helping clients with their personal finance needs. She has recently graduated from San Jose State University with a Bachelor’s in Business. Those of you attending our conference are welcome to come by our booth, where Sheetal will be helping out along with the rest of us from The Sleeter Group.
Every Question: Does anyone have experience with tracking sales by reps. We need a three-tiered structure with each invoice including a Rep (or an Associate), a Manager and a Director. Each invoice needs to all three. I tried going into the sales templates, but didn’t get the right information in the Sales by Rep Detail Report. I also tried to run a Custom Transaction Detail Report but couldn’t find the way to get the needed fields to show up. What I would like to do is run the Sales by Rep Report including the Director, the Manager and the Associate, then I would customize it for invoices paid. I want to export this report in order to calculate each Manager, Director and Associate’s commissions. I’m not sure QuickBooks can handle this. Stuart McClain answered: This is similar to an issue I have with a client. You will have to use Custom Fields to do this – but you have to make sure that they are on screen and data is entered consistently. Then you to get your summaries. I would caution that there are reporting issues with reporting on "paid" sales if discounts or partial payments are made on invoices. This has been a real issue with my client. Reports can duplicate line-items as a result of the way discounts/payments are applied, if you look at detail reports. Randy Shaw added: There are three QuickBooks Add-ons for calculating commissions. You can view them at http://marketplace.intuit.com/v2/f-sales-commission/software-solutions.aspx.

It’s November again! Where did the whole year go? We’re really looking forward to our 5th annual Accounting Software Consulting conference next week and I hope to see you there.
