Inside this Issue
Happy Holidays We’ve seen consultants faced with smaller marketing budgets, respond by narrowing their marketing to reach niche markets where they have special expertise. I’ve talked to many members who have been expanding their revenue opportunities by working with VAR programs and as a result are offering higher quality services to their clients. I’ve heard from many of you that you are using innovative new technologies to streamline your and your clients’ processes to make your office more efficient and expanding your offerings to your clients. Over and over again, we have heard how you have turned significant challenges into opportunities that leave you poised for greater success in the coming year. We have also been looking towards innovative ways to bring you more resources. We are now offering an Online Conference Library – which includes recordings on most of the sessions offered at our 2009 Accounting Software Conference. If your last encounter with conference recordings were a bulky package of cassette tapes, you are in for a surprise. Not only are all the recording available online, but they are synchronized with the onscreen PowerPoints and demos. You can read more about it in the article below. I wish all of you a warm and happy holiday season and a successful and joy-filled new year.

Every Question: I have a client that is considering switching to QuickBooks Online. What experiences have you had with QuickBooks Online, and how is it better or worse than using QuickBooks hosted by a good, licensed Hosting service? Stuart McClain responded: I’ve had clients on QuickBooks Online for over two years now and they have been very happy. They are just now starting to track on-hand quantities, but it does not yet have full inventory functionality. You can track by Class as well as Location now – which means you do not have to use Class for location, but could use it for something else and still have location. When it came to using PayCycle (now Intuit Online Payroll) you just had to have the two windows open – hit EXPORT and it was done – no importing of IIF files or anything. You can also customize some of the ‘terms’ – i.e. Customers can be called Patients or Clients. QuickBooks Online is less expensive that a fully hosted license. You always get upgrades – no need to purchase new versions. Online Edition is not as flexible in terms of customizing reports or saving as PDF – so you have to print them to a PDF printer driver and save that way….bank reconciliations are not saved…..as in Premier etc. Final Response: Thank you so much for sharing this!
