This may not be enough for what you want, but here goes. QuickBooks has a special item type called a group item. This item allows you to group other items together for use on purchase orders and sales forms. However, there is no way to query QuickBooks to find out how many "kits" or units of a group item are on hand. In many businesses, this is quite important.
