First Time Setting up QuickBooks for a Client

Summary

Since this is my first QuickBooks consulting job, what recommendations do you have that would result in a satisfying end result for both client and consultant?

Question

Since this is my first QuickBooks consulting job, what recommendations do you have that would result in a satisfying end result for both client and consultant?

Answer

1) Make sure you fully understand the client's needs. 2) Make sure you have a complete solution in your head for how you'll set up their file, and how you'll teach them to enter data. 3) Do a proposal that you both sign that lays out the plan. A sample proposal is in our Successful QuickBooks Consulting book. 4) Since it's your first setup, be prepared to absorb some hours. Make sure you test the file on sample data before you deliver it to them. Make a backup after setup so you won't have to delete all the sample transactions.
