California Sales Tax Items
for all counties in California
INSTRUCTIONS:
The tax table is a text file in a special format (called IIF) that
QuickBooks uses to define lists. Once you've downloaded the file,
you can import the data into your QuickBooks company file. Download
the tax table file: Windows version Macintosh
version To load these items into your QuickBooks company:
- Launch QuickBooks
and open your company file.
- Choose File>Import
- Choose the directory
in which you've stored CALTAX.IIF.
- Double-Click CALTAX.IIF
- QuickBooks will import
QuickBooks sales tax items into your Item list for each county
in Californa.
Remember to update your sales tax items with
the current tax rates as they change. To change the rate for one of
the items:
- Display the Item list
- Click on the Item
you wish to change
- Choose Edit Item from
the Edit Menu.
- Enter the new tax
rate in the rate field.
- Click OK.

Arizona
Sales Tax Items in Sample File
INSTRUCTIONS: The data file containing the Arizona sales tax items
is a Windows version 6.0 file Release 4 file. If you do not have
at least Release 4 of Version 6.0 or QuickBooks 99 you may not be
able to use it. To determine which release level you have, open
your QuickBooks file and type <Control + 1> to view that information.
If you have a lower release level, update your file to R4 before proceeding.
To accomplish this, go to the Online Menu in QuickBooks and choose
Update Service.
Download the
tax table file.
Once you've downloaded the file, you can export its item list to an
".iif" file and then import it into your own QuickBooks
company file. To load these items into your QuickBooks company file:
- Launch QuickBooks and close your company file
- Use the File>Restore command to open the
Arizona Sales Tax.QBB file
- In the Arizona Sales Tax file choose File>Export
and select the "Item List" for export
- Give the exported file a name with the extension
.iif
- Close the Arizona Sales Tax QuickBooks data
file and open your own QuickBooks file
- Choose File>Import and select the .iif
file you just created
- QuickBooks will import the sales tax items
into your Item list
- Remember to regularly update your sales tax
items with current tax rates as they frequently change.
To change the rate for one of the items:
- Display the Item list
- Click on the Item you wish to change
- Choose Edit Item from the Edit Menu.
- Enter the new tax rate in the rate field.
- Click OK.
