Intuit has released the QuickBooks 2013 R4 update for the U.S. version of QuickBooks. At the time I’m writing this the release is available as a manual update from the Intuit support web site. I would expect this to be released as an automatic update within a week, if all goes well (unless they change […]

Earlier this year we published an article by Bill Murphy about a variety of problems with the QuickBooks Enterprise Advanced Inventory feature. One of the problems was a file corruption issue (when using the multiple inventory location feature of QuickBooks Enterprise with Advanced Inventory) that could not be repaired. Intuit has finally identified the problem, […]

Intuit introduced the multiple inventory site feature in QuickBooks Enterprise V11, as a part of the optional Advanced Inventory feature. This allowed you to create up to 200 Inventory Sites to hold your QuickBooks inventory. This year they are expanding this feature to add a second level, Locations within Inventory Sites, which is something that […]
QuickBooks 2013 is here! QuickBooks 2013 contains a number of new features, as well as improvements to existing ones. A couple of years ago, Intuit introduced a new subscription based add-on to QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions, Advanced Inventory. In its initial year this new feature provided “multi-site” capabilities, allowing users to track inventory quantities for each item by specific physical locations. This gave users the ability to create up to 200 Inventory Sites such as […]
The Custom Reporting ODBC Connection that came out with QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 2011 is a wonderful feature that allows faster access to more information than ever before. However, if you’ve ever tried using it with Excel, you may have been frustrated to learn that it doesn’t always work as expected.
I’ve talked about the problems that you can run into with the optional Enhanced Inventory Receiving (EIR) function in QuickBooks Enterprise V12, but there are still situations where you may find that this feature is needed. Let’s talk about some workarounds that are available for one of the big problems.
Intuit added the ability to manage serial numbers in QuickBooks Enterprise V12 with the Advanced Inventory option, and I’ve had a couple of clients point out a “bug” that was frustrating them relating to editing of sales forms and this feature. Turns out it isn’t a bug, just an odd way to implement this feature. […]
Intuit has released the QuickBooks 2012 R8 update for the U.S. version of QuickBooks. This is another major update for the 2012 product, with a long list of changes. Please note that I have not had the opportunity to check or confirm each of the issues listed here. At the time I’m writing this the […]
Early after QuickBooks Enterprise V12.0 was released there were several bugs associated with the new Auto Cost/Price Update feature, which were reported as being resolved by subsequent updates. However, just recently a new error has started to show up and this error also seems to be associated with the Auto Cost/Price Update feature.
If you have been following this blog you know that I have some concerns with the Enhanced Inventory Receiving feature of QuickBooks Enterprise V12. Let’s take a look at another potential pitfall when using this program, relating to the Inventory Offset account.
QuickBooks Enterprise V12 introduced Enhanced Inventory Receiving, a feature that lets you separate an item receipt from a bill. This feature resolves a number of problems that people run into with QuickBooks, but I’ve been recommending that people look at the impact of this feature very carefully before implementing it. Once you select this feature […]
