HindSite Software is a leading PDA-based business management tool, specifically designed for service businesses with mobile sales and service technicians. It is most well-suited for companies that specialize in irrigation, lawn care, plumbing, electrical, construction, HVAC, cleaning services, cable companies, and other mobile sales and service businesses.
The product was developed by David Crary, President and founder of the company bearing the same name as the product. David’s years of experience in the irrigation industry pushed him to create the product. Then, after experiencing a growth of over 250 percent revenue per service technician, Crary decided to expand HindSite Software from a custom solution into an industry solution.
HindSite Software revolves around the service technician. Using the PDA (personal digital assistant), HindSite Software automates all scheduling, invoicing, and parts tracking, enabling the technician to perform his or her job with better efficiency and professionalism. The PDA displays a technician’s entire schedule for the day including detailed notes and customer detail for each service call. The software also maintains critical information such as work orders, timecards, parts tracking, job notes, truck mileage and job estimates.
At the end of the day, all information stored on the PDA is transferred to the back office system where it is processed and organized. This eliminates the inherently erroneous and time-consuming problems of using handwritten work orders in the field.
The back office software includes a comprehensive customer database, customizable billing options, service call scheduling, vehicle maintenance tracking, and direct integration with QuickBooks and Master Builder from Intuit Inc. The software helps keep the company’s entire fleet of vehicles maintained on schedule by tracking service records on each vehicle. The combination of the PDA software and the back office application results in a streamlined, paperless system designed to allow a service company more growth without having to add more office personnel.
In 2001, Hindsite’s software was licensed by Rain Bird Irrigation and became the Rain Bird Pro system for Rain Bird resellers and service technicians.
In 2005, HindSite Software made a number of improvements to the PDA product including a completely redesigned interface, signature capture, and messaging to and from the home office. HindSite Software is currently developing a new drag and drop scheduling screen, more product customizability and a Setup Wizard to decrease the learning curve with the back office software.
