BillQuick 2005 Now Available

Author: Doug Sleeter  Created: Wed Apr 20 13:50:20 2005

Announcing BillQuick 2005, the latest generation of time & billing software for accounting firms, financial planners, consultants, architects, engineers, attorneys and other service professionals from BQE Software, Inc.

Among its 150 new and improved features, BillQuick 2005 delivers built-in Document Management, fine control over write-ups and write-downs, expanded retainer management, estimates, direct integration with Intuit Complete Payroll, and seamless, two-way, real-time integration with QuickBooks and Microsoft Small Business Accounting.

Document Management Features:
Accessible from within BillQuick, Document Management lets firms organize documents and email around clients, engagements and/or engagement managers. Inserting variable information such as client, client contact, engagement, and engagement manager information into folder names along with static names like Correspondence, Engagement Letter, Tax Returns, Spreadsheets and Invoices, a firm gains a highly personalized structure that minimizes the time it takes to find and work with potentially scores of files for hundreds of clients.

Write-ups/Write-Downs:
Write-ups and write-downs often focus on adjusting the total amount billed a client and prorating it to employees. Expanding on this traditional approach, BillQuick now offers the ability select one or a group of time entries and write them up or down. Managers can write-up or down time records for an employee, a task, an employee who charged a specific task to an engagement, or any combination of elements. You can even write-up or down time entries before beginning the billing process. The write-up/down factor can be viewed for each time entry along with the invoice on which it was billed, useful information (along with other on-screen information) for calls from clients.

Remote Time Entry via the Web
BillQuick Web Interface Time & Expense 2005 is an Internet/Intranet-based application. Web i T&E enhances the power of BillQuick by extending its reach to remote users or satellite offices anywhere via the Internet. Designed to be safe and secure, BillQuick Web i T&E is compatible with practically every Internet browser including: Explorer, Netscape, Mozilla and Safari for both the Windows and Macintosh platforms.

Many professionals spend most of their time out of the office. Typically, they work at a client's site and from home, submitting their time and expense records by mail fax or phone. With the introduction of email, many consultants deliver their time and expense records via email. While definitely helping to reduce the delay in submitting records, it did not eliminate the administrative burden at the receiving end. Records still had to be imported or manually entered at the office.
To make this process quick and easy, Web i T&E allows you to log time and expenses via the Internet by simply connecting to your firm's web site or you can run Web i T&E on servers behind firewalls in an intranet environment.

Retainer Handling:
Retainers in BillQuick have grown from engagement retainers and retainer invoices to full Retainer History. In the 2005 version, BillQuick tracks retainer invoices, retainer receipts for both client and engagement retainers, and application of retainers to invoices. When a client calls, it is easy to view their retainer with a few mouse clicks.

Tracking Estimates and Progress on Jobs:
Estimates take users into new areas. Where most estimate functions simply list tasks and expenses for a client to pre-approve, BillQuick makes an estimate come alive by allowing you to generate an invoice directly from the estimate. Click a button, enter a Percentage Done value for each task and expense, and let BillQuick calculate the invoice amount. Amazingly simple, so obvious, and very welcome.

Integration with accounting and payroll systems has expanded again in 2005. BillQuick now has direct integration with Intuit Complete Payroll as well as continued support for DIY payroll through its enhanced integration with QuickBooks timesheets. New in BillQuick 2005 is integration with Microsoft's new accounting software, Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting to be released later this year.
