Understanding QuickBooks Cash Basis Reports - Excerpt

One of the best features of QuickBooks is that it does not lock you in to the Cash or Accrual Basis. However, you may find that the cash basis balance sheet has any number of troubling numbers on it, so it’s important to understand exactly what QuickBooks does and doesn’t do when it converts from Accrual to cash. This is an excerpt from the 2011 QuickBooks Consultant's Reference Guide.

The Sleeter Group would like to congratulate our Magnificent Members of 2010! Each year at the Accounting Solutions Conference, we present this award to up to five of our members, who are nominated by their peers in various categories. These individuals take full advantage of their membership in the Sleeter Group Consultants Network, and work hard to develop their competency and expertise in their own consulting practices.

Chuck's Reporting and Technology Corner - November 2010

The most recent Sleeter Group Conference in Las Vegas was another resounding success. Doug’s membership consistently asks for deeper material, and this year was no exception – and from my view, was even more so. It was three days of jam packed information – with little time to breath or digest, until after the conference had ended. It is ironic that my session on ODBC is probably one of the more difficult to digest because of the material, and it is in the last slot of the conference – when people are worn down, and ready to give their brains a break. However, I give the audience credit for hanging in there, and doing their best to refrain from ‘glazed eye syndrome’.

In this article we look at two of the new features in QuickBooks 2011, Multi-instance and Balance Sheet by Class. Both of these features sound at first as if they will greatly enhance our experiences as consultants and what we can provide our clients. However, both currently have many limitations. It is crucial that consultants understand what can and cannot be done with both these new features.
