The Sleeter Group - Leading Change in Small Business Accounting
The Sleeter Group (@SleeterGroup) is dedicated to helping accountants and small businesses work together by using the most innovative and tested tools/systems to generate greater efficiencies and higher profits. We represent an independent view, separate from any particular company or product, and we evaluate solutions based solely on how they meet the demands of small business owners.
We have developed a broad range of "best practices" for proper implementation of small- to medium-sized business accounting software systems, and we act as the most trusted advisors for the accounting consulting community. Our Sleeter Group Consultants Network is a community of over 700 accounting experts who provide consulting services to over 300,000 small-to medium-sized business owners in the accounting software and business process design areas. Sleeter Consultants Network Members provide the critical glue — consulting and implementation services — that connects technology solutions to the needs of small- to medium-sized business clients.
In addition to the Consultants Network, resources from The Sleeter Group include reference books, webinars, seminars, an annual Accounting Solutions Conference and Tradeshow, a QuickBooks consultant certification program, practice management tools, QuickBooks teaching systems, QuickBooks assessment exams, a restaurant accounting system, and an accounting solutions Blog.
The Sleeter Group was established in 1994 and is based in Pleasanton, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Doug Sleeter - Founder and President
Author, Thought Leader, Publisher, Educator, Advisor, Entrepreneur, Evangelist
Doug (@DougSleeter) is a passionate leader of innovation and change in the small business accounting technology world. As a CPA firm veteran and former Apple Computer Evangelist, Doug has melded his two great passions (accounting and technology) to guide developers in the innovation of new products and to educate and lead accounting professionals who serve small businesses.
Doug is best known for his expertise in QuickBooks as well as driving the adoption of online accounting and small business process solutions. In the early 1990s, Doug was a pioneer in developing the first QuickBooks seminars in the country and has since built the largest group of accounting software consultants in the small business accounting profession. Doug serves on several advisory boards for technology companies and has consulted with numerous industry leaders including Intuit, Sage, Apple, and Adobe Systems.
Doug is the publisher of the QuickBooks and Beyond blog and writes a regular column in The CPA Practice Advisor. He is the author of numerous books and courseware materials including The QuickBooks Consultant’s Reference Guide, college textbooks such as QuickBooks Complete, QuickBooks Fundamentals, The QuickBooks Step-by-Step Teaching System, and Intuit's QuickBooks Fundamentals Learning Guide.
The CPA Practice Advisor has recognized Doug as one of the "Top 25 Thought Leaders" in the accounting profession for the past several years, and he has been named to Accounting Today's "Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting" each year since 2008.
Highly sought for his ability to engage and educate accounting professionals, Doug presents at various accounting events throughout the year including those held by the AICPA and numerous State CPA societies. Doug also hosts an annual Accounting Solutions Conference and Tradeshow attended by hundreds of accounting professionals, industry leaders and technology developers.
Doug attended both the University of California Santa Cruz and Santa Clara University and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Information Systems. Doug's hobbies include travel, golf, racquetball, and reading. Doug lives with his family in Pleasanton, California.
Sherrill Sleeter - Co-Founder and Vice President
Sherrill (@SleeterGroup) manages the firm's operations, marketing, partner programs, human resources and events. Sherrill holds a BS degree in Business Administration from California State University East Bay and is a lifetime member of Beta Gamma Sigma Society.

Batul Dostmohammed - Event Planner
Batul
joined the team in 2012. Batul coordinates numerous logistical aspects of events including exhibitor management, speaker coordination, and continuing education program management. Batul is an active member of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) and has completed San Francisco State University's Event and Meeting Planning Certificate Program.
Nathan Fochler - Customer Service Coordinator
Nathan
joined the team in 2007. He handles all aspects of customer service including administration of the company's online Web store, affiliate programs, purchasing, product inventory, product technical support, customer returns, onboarding of new members, membership renewals, and event registration. Nathan holds a BA degree in Economics from California State University East Bay.
Janene Knudsen joined the team in 2012. Janene serves as he Membership Outreach Coordinator for The Sleeter Group Consultants Network as well as Exhibit Sales Coordinator for the Accounting Solutions Conference. Janene has a varied background in the retail and insurance industries. Janene holds a BS degree from the University of California, Davis.
Deborah Pembrook - Director of Educational Products
Deborah
joined the team in 2006. She serves as Director of Educational Products. She is the editor of The Sleeter Group's QuickBooks Complete and Fundamentals college textbooks, Learning QuickBooks Step-by-Step series, and the QuickBooks Consultant's Reference Guide. She has an extensive background in vocational education. Deborah holds a BS degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
Joy Prado - Bookkeeper and Travel Coordinator
Joy
joined the team in 2010. She serves as Bookkeeper and Travel Coordinator. She handles all accounting functions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, SGCN membership billing, commissions, and merchant accounts. Joy manages team travel and assists with special projects.
Charlie Russell - Managing Editor, QuickBooks and Beyond Blog.
Charlie has been involved with the small business software industry since the mid-70s, focusing on inventory and accounting software. He founded MC Software, one of the early accounting and inventory control software companies for CP/M- and DOS-based small business computers. His current company, CCRSoftware, produces QuickBooks-compatible add-on software, and is a Gold member of the Intuit Developer Network. He has been blogging about QuickBooks since 2008. He is a Certified Advanced QuickBooks ProAdvisor. Charlie possesses both a BS and an MS from University of California, Davis.
Michele Shannon, CA-AM, CMP - Certified Meeting Planner
Michele joined the team in 2011 and assists with event venue selection, contract negotation, audio visual and technology, signage, etc. Michele has over 10 years of event management experience which includes roles as an independent contractor, in-house planner, and agency planner.

Tom Sleeter - Website Project Manager
Tom
joined the team in 2012. Tom manages the company Websites; Sleeter.com, Store.Sleeter.com, Marketplace.Sleeter.com, and SleeterConference.com. He also assists with numerous special projects such as development of our event Mobile Apps and our Awesome App Award program. Tom holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biopsychology from the University of California Santa Barbara.
